Twitpay.me allows you to send cash to your twitter friends.
To send them money, you just send a tweet in twitpay-speak
eg: @happyches twitpay $1 for great service
Or from their website:

You can send a payment in any increment between $0.01 and $50.00.
It’s a “promise” of cash.
Twitpay monitors Twitters’ public timeline for these messages, and tracks who owes [...]

New site Tweetag allows you to browse through Twitters public tweets by keyword/tags.
Their homepage shows the top 40 topics that people are chatting about, and like a normal tag-cloud, the size of each tag is relative.

Thanks @MichDdot for letting me know about Tweetake.com - a way to Backup your Twitter Followers, Friends, Faves, Tweets, or "Everything".

Also "watch this space" TwitterSafe, a site that will backup just your followers for now but looks like it’s heading somewhere…
